Tears And Trouble In The Tenth Minisode Of Helluva Shorts

You may recall the main cast of Helluva Boss making special guest appearances in the ambitiously collaborative music video for The Living Tombstone’s remix of the song “Everything Is Fine” by Qbomb, based on a two-panel image from an issue of the webcomic series known as “Gunshow” that became an iconic meme [49] [116]. Straight after I had a blast cosplaying as a female version of Luigi from an alternate Super Mario universe and meeting Thomas Ridgewell, also known as “TomSka”, the creator of the asdfmovie series at this year’s MegaCon in Birmingham in association with MegaCon’s 5th anniversary [23] [48] [91] [120], I was bewildered at the announcement of the tenth minisode of Helluva Shorts, a demonically animated sideshow [109]. In all honesty, I consider the latest short one of the best ones, as the side series is getting closer to becoming another director’s dozen. Why? You are about to find out! Sometime after the reveals and releases of new Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss merchandise [41] [110] [111], including plushies based on Vaggi, Husk, Lucifer and Sir Pentious [131] [132] [133], a Spring-themed figure based on Stolas from YouTooz [134], and items based on the past lives of Alastor, Vincent Wellman and Pendleton [33] [40], let us investigate how a mystery in the tenthHelluva Short gets solved as Disney devotees continue celebrating the 10th anniversary of Shanghai Disneyland [76] [98] [99] [100] [109]. Yes, there has been a rather heavy emphasis on the term “Mystery” for a short while…

Even though there is nothing wrong with preferring the main Helluva Boss series over the shorts, it would be wise to stop begging for the third season and asking SpindleHorse to cease the production of the shorts in an ungrateful manner [16]. Not that I am freaking out about that, unlike how Caine retaliated against backlash in the eighth episode of The Amazing Digital Circus [32] [129] [130]. As for Blitzo’s brother from another mother, he would tell me that I am still count on him [29] [30] [101] [120], despite how he called Ryan Reynolds a “huge a**hole” and “the poor man’s version of Ryan Reynolds” [105] [115]. [131]


There may have been times when I got misjudged, shamed, humiliated and felt like everyone hated me, but I am still standing as a fan of the Hellaverse as more Nintendo nerds soar through the outcome of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie [17] [18] [117]. Without further ado, prepare to pay your respects…or pay the price in the Greed Ring of Hell [44] [76]… [134]


Throughout the few days leading up to the short’s premiere, it was suspected to be a murder mystery as a sinner can tell by the teaser image of a bloody question mark set against a frame of surreally designed and mournful flora [109]. However, it turns out that the short is titled “Mission: It’s Chaz Funeral”, meaning that it is set during Chazwick Thurman’s funeral [44] [76]. I am more than delighted that we are finally taking a break from the usual missions to somehow stop “Hell’s Belles” from feeling left out [70], but I am quite baffled at the premise being a funeral for the (supposedly) deceased Chaz [76]. A “new” character shows up by the name of “Zahcwick”, thus it is suspected that he is “Chaz’s twin brother”. However, much to my bewilderment alongside Moxxie and Millie’s realisation, it turns out that Chaz’s death at the end in “Exes and Oohs” was a hoax all along as we sinners can tell that how now has a set of false teeth that resemble his original real teeth and that he is fooling everyone into thinking that he is his identical twin brother instead of telling the truth [61] [76]. And guess? My favourite part of the short is that it consists of a short but silly musical number, thanks to the quirkiness of Eric Schwartz [94]! But aside from that, what other aspects of the latest short shall we discuss [76]?

It can be argued that “Mission: It’s Chaz Funeral” is a non-canon short due to how it was uploaded on April Fool’s Day and how nonsensical it has how many apparent exes Chaz has, including Andrealphus and Beelzebub [76], even though that it about as bizarrely exaggerated as how many exes Blitzo has as shown in the Anti-Blitzo party in “Apology Tour” [60], but who are we to judge if some hazbeans consider it one of their favourite [11]? Personally, I will consider it canon just for the hell of it [76]. Besides, there might as well be some depth on how Millie dated and broke up with him in the past, in contrast to a flashback of Moxxie being another one of his former partners in “Exes and Oohs” [60]. [76]


Am I the only one who can imagine a powerful alternative interpretation of Angel Dust (created by HC4Art) as an overlord playing a sinister supporting role in a murder mystery [26] [34] [36] [37] [38] [114], aside from how he also dislikes pineapple on pizza [35]? Well, it would be shocking if the four-armed frenemy became an overlord instead of returning to the hotel for sinners to be redeemed near the end of the third season of Hazbin Hotel. I would not be surprised if he were aware of some of Chaz’s schemes in the Pride Ring at some point [61] [76]. Kudos to HC4Art for the talent, hard work, and dedication put into developing Overlord Angel Dust [34] [36] [37] [38]! Please show the artist some love and support! [34]


Before the shocking reveal that Chaz is still alive after secretly surviving the wrath of Crimson [61], the short begins with Blitzo and his two employees attending the funeral after the file in the office is revealed, which serves as a vague reminder of their entry into mansion in “Exes and Oohs” [76]. As much as I can count on Deadpool whenever I feel like the world in the 2020s is against me [53] [54] [55] [56] [78], we can count on the Blitzster being the wicked heart of Hazbin Hotel’s sister series and the sideshow of shorts, even though his wisecracks and crudeness are not ideal for attend a funeral, a gathering for folks to mourn and pay their respects for someone who died, yet unlike his employees, he is convinced that Chaz is really deceased and the shark demon they see is “Zahc” [76]. At least how he exits the building after Mr. and Mrs. Knolastname get kicked out shows that he is still loyal to them, despite several mishaps throughout the series and side series [62] [64] [68] [74] [75], including public humiliation from getting booted out of a “funeral” [76]. Despite falling for Thurman’s scheme and later questioning it, yet still doubting Mr. and Mrs. Knowlastname, I still consider Blitzo’s role in the tenth short more likeable than how he misused the role of a new kind of boss in the eighth one [74]. But still, it is vital that he progresses into the best stepfather for Octavia possible sometime after Stolas proves himself to be a compassionate stepfather for Loona aside from how he will reflect on his hardships once again [21] [66].

Previously, we saw the three imps try and track down Bigfoot only to get swindled into gullibility [75] [123] [124]. At least the Blitzster’s fellow assassins saw Chaz right through his scheme of possibly escaping some further accountability [76]. If the next short is another mission, hopefully their next target will be someone sincerely scummy, such as a far-right internet troll who was abusive to an autistic woman like me [123] [124]. As for the time of them attending Chaz’s “funeral”, if Blitzo’s motivation to drag his employees along is the fact that they all had sex with him at some point besides how they have been assigned to attend it in the present, then that makes him…a little too forgiving [76], shall we say? [76]


Reflecting on the events of “Exes and Oohs” [61], it is understandable why Moxxie and Millie are still resentful towards Chaz, despite attending his “funeral” alongside their boss [76]. Moxxie remains my second favourite character of Helluva Boss for how confrontational he can be if he points out an issue with the latest example being the way he calls out Chaz for setting up a fake funeral, even though Millie is the only one who notices that alongside him, not just because she is his wife, but also due to the fact that the sleazy shark demon dated them both at some point and failed to seduce them at Crimson’s mansion in “Exes and Oohs” [61]. We are yet to see how Millie deals with an unplanned pregnancy, as well as how Moxxie will react to it in the third season of the main series [13] [66] [80] [92] [93]. Additionally, my owl daddy ought to develop a friendship with Moxxie and Millie beyond the time when he would refer to them as “littler ones” in association with even bigger character progression [62] [64] [66]. But for now, Team M&M’s reputation is, unfortunately, tarnished by how they, along with their boss, got kicked out of a (fake) funeral [76]. But still, can they still be respected in some other areas [80], especially after Stolitz is redeemed for both Stolas and Blitzo’s sakes in the Season Three finale [66]?

This image perfectly represents how I was mistreated on Twitter/X for being an autistic fan of Vivienne Medrano’s Hellaverse and how I feel regarding the relapse all the hate against the shows has caused [6] [81]. But still, I deeply appreciate those who have assured me that there is still plenty of love and that sense of belonging blooming like the demonic flowers in the Greed and Sloth Rings of Hell [69] [76]. [76]


Tons of supporting characters are attending the funeral. It looks like Andrealphus knew Chaz at some point too…and it is about time he showed a far more humane side [76], despite how he is an appallingly uncaring uncle to Octavia in “Sinsmas” [66]. Emberlynn Pinkle from “Mission: Weeaboo-Boo” is the only one watching the funeral through a video call as she holds up a questionable sign in what appears to be her new residence in the Pride Ring of Hell [71] [76], which sticks to the lore of sinners being unable to access the other six rings. Seriously? Do Glitz and Glam really have to strut in front of paparazzi while they are attending a funeral? I am sure that their participation in a line of trendy clothing items is deeply appreciated, though [58]. Beelzebub looks absolutely stunning in her funeral attire that goes with a new shade of brown for her fur and so on as she places a beehive next to a photo of Chaz [76]. It looks like Barbie Wire is one of the least interested as she just scrolls through her phone, but at least she did not get into a heated argument with Blitzo again [68]. The ridiculously amusing amount of supporting characters who apparently had some (sexual) interest in Chaz at some point attending his (fake) funeral all seem like part of an April Fool’s day prank [76], but the thought of the irresponsible and promiscuous shark demon returning in the third season of the main Helluva Boss sounds like…a breath of Greed Ring air, shall we say?

Aside from Muffy, the slow-witted receptionist from “Western Energy” sleeping [69], Verosika Mayday being there for a tearful backup dancer, and many other attendees based on various SpindleHorse employees [11] [89], it is pretty cute of Fizzarolli to wear an “Emotional Support Frog” T-shirt as he holds the hand of a grieving Asmodeus, despite how uninterested he seems in mourning the “deceased” Chaz [76]. Or is he still aggravated at Ozzie for how he could not do anything when Blitzo was about to be executed in “Mastermind” [64]? I do not want them to break up, though [63] [65]! [76]


Personally, I think “Mission: It’s Chaz Funeral” is quite sharply written within its individuality, despite the (amusingly) tacky penis jokes [76]. As off-putting as the preacher voiced by Lyle Rath looks in an animation interpretation of Hell is, it still makes me theorise that Charlie Morningstar is not the only one seeking a way for demons to be qualified to immigrate to Heaven [59] [87]. Surely, a certain group of winners are chanting “Shamala Hamala!” in some part of Heaven while plenty of demons are mourning in Hell [45] [76] [86]. If Zahc…or Chaz…is not dead, then who is in the coffin? The most unlikeable stereotype from Waterloo Road shortly before that wretched school got destroyed by either a wrecking ball or an army tank [7] [82] [119] [121], thanks to Deadpool? As previously mentioned, whether the short is canon or not, it still ought not to cause a little contradiction in the third season of the main Helluva Boss series, especially if it has been decided that Chaz is not dead after all and Eric Schwartz shall reprise the role once again as there has been a issue regarding the consistency of Katie Killjoy’s role as an antagonistic news anchor in the second season of Hazbin Hotel as we reflect on the events of the pilot [10] [59] [61] [76]. But more importantly, the emotional tension of the main plot must not clash with an unfitting side plot again, which is an issue I have with “Western Energy”, despite my appreciation for its introduction of the Sloth Ring of Hell [69].

Perhaps in an official crossover with Hazbin Hotel, the hotel managed by Charlie Morningstar and her girlfriend can be upgraded for hellborns who want to be redeemed and legally immigrate to Heaven with the assistance of this preacher [59] [76] [87]. After all, he could be a fallen angel due to his religious nature [61] [76]. Despite how unlikely and slightly far-fetched the concept of a hellborn being redeemed sounds, some more hopes for the third seasons of the two toons shall be explained later. [76]


Aside from how it is one of the best written shorts besides “Mission: Whacked Off”, “Mission: Chupacabras” and “Hell’s Belles” due to crude and compelling dialogue and an arguably better use of dramatic irony compared to Blitzo using a secretary’s praising for personal gratification two shorts ago [70] [72] [73] [74] [76], the animation and backgrounds are once again enchantingly excellent. Please excuse the corny alliteration [76]. The building where Chaz’s (fake) funeral is being held is illuminated by the neon gloom of mourning in the Greed Ring, apart from Emberlynn’s new room in Hell, which is almost as perkily vibrant as her room in the living world in the third short [71]. The details of the flora and so on during the “funeral” show how much effort goes into making the settings rather life-like in an animated incarnation of Hades [76]. The characters’ movements are once again lively as “Zahc” struts in a familiar manner aside from how refreshing it is to see the motioning background characters wear black attire, despite how Andrealphus’ fur coat is just a recolour of his usual one [64] [69]. Aside from how the animation quality ought to stay in strikingly great condition in the last two shorts [76], I strongly believe that the Envy Ring will beam in a mysterious collage of purple and indigo at some point in the third season of the main Helluva Boss series.

Aside from how questionable those candles are, the lighting and shading effects, such as the spotlight on the preacher and the silhouettes of the offended crowd who deny Moxxie and Millie’s realisation, are exceptional [76]. But still, if “Clank” was witnessing the funeral in the same way Emberlynn Pinkle is, he would say, “What a load of bull-!” during the preacher's speech [108]. [76]


Chaz has hardly gained any character growth aside from faking his death and going by a new alias that is basically the letters in his name reversed [61] [76], but his funeral attire makes him quite sophisticated as he remains his weirdly charming self. He seems too narcissistic to change his appearance convincingly to avoid being exposed by Moxxie and Millie for faking his death. [76]


There are high hopes for the last two Helluva Shorts. Surely, Stolas can make an appearance in the eleventh short, the twelfth one or both to add to the long overdue break from the antiheroic assassinations that have been a mixed bag. Perhaps he can go to St. Ann’s in the Sloth Ring again, but for an STD check during some self-reflections at the beginning of dating Blitzo properly, if you know what I mean [64] [66] [69]. Aside from the likelihood of another mission for I.M.P. to accomplish, another possibility would be a little more on Striker’s relationship with Stella, aside from how he is her employee [67] [69]. About as much as I hope that the likely production of Deadpool 4 will not repeat the same issue regarding a child actor saying an explicit line during the production of Deadpool & Wolverine since it sounds like such a difficult action has not been as carefully handled as Trey Paker directing his daughter as she voiced Ike Broflovski during the time of certain episodes of South Park being produced [43] [95] [105] [112] [122] [125], I hope that the last Helluva Short will serve as a rather satisfying finale for the sideshow that might or might not be renewed for another season and that the subject of Angel Dust being abused by Valentino can be handled even more considerately and effectively, leading to him returning to Charlie Morningstar’s hotel for redeeming sinners completely on his own accords in the third season of Hazbin Hotel [123] [124].

I think the credits sequence of one of the last two shorts ought to consist of a zany musical number like “Zahc”s cover of “Ave Maria” in “Mission: It’s Chaz Funeral” or the bonus dinner scene in “Mission: Whacked Off” [73] [76]. In the meantime, cheers for the zany tenth short, Skye Henwood! [76]


I still stand by how there might as well be an official manga adaptation of Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss due to how popular they are in Japan [4] [5] [106] [107] [127] [128]. And perhaps in the future, there can be a new animated series that serves as a prequel to The Amazing Digital Circus, delving into the bizarre adventures of the previous humans before their abstractions [12] [32]. But for now, please give kudos to Eric Schwartz for reprising his role as “Zahc” in the tenth Helluva Short and let us stay tuned for what shall be revealed at this year’s LVL UP Expo in Las Vegas later this month [77] [94]! [76]


Let us take a moment to express our hopes aside from the last two Helluva Shorts and possibly another season. I am quite bewildered that the third season of the main Helluva Boss will be split into two parts [19] [20]. As much as I can imagine Ruby and Gordon from the Angry Birds franchise gradually becoming smitten with one another in a future instalment in contrast to the one-sided relationship between Mordecai and Margaret that eventually involved into a failed one throughout the run of Regular Show [90] [126], I sincerely hope that justice can be served against Striker at some point in the third season of the main Helluva Boss series [69], aside from his karma near the end of “Oops” in the second one [65], regardless of whether or not a fellow sinner prefers the villainous impact he left in “The Harvest Moon Festival” [46] [67]. And of course, Vassago ought to be a deeply needed uncle figure to Octavia, who could teach her some new spells [64] [66]. Aside from how we caught another sinister glimpse of the Greed Ring in “Mission: It’s Chaz Funeral” [76], I am still yearning to see the debut of the Envy Ring. I do not doubt that the two parts of the third season can help plenty of young adults cope during hard times in the future [19] [20], quite like how the first season of Hazbin Hotel helped me cope sometime after the death of my mother two years ago.

And of course, I shall look forward to more musical numbers throughout the two parts of third seasons of Helluva Boss [19] [20], as well as more songs in the third season of Hazbin Hotel, but I understand that there is more to a musical than squeezing in a proportionate amount of songs into the story as I have strong hopes for some new character arcs, especially Stolas making the most of his new life as a peasant [64] [66]. [64]


I would be absolutely delighted to see a new female character in the Hellaverse who also happens to be autistic [9], as there are efforts to break the ongoing stigma regarding autistic people struggling to get into employment and make them feel like they can be included in this world [14], despite certain challenges they may face [112]. And yes, mute the f*** out of Vox right before he dares to make any sexist or ableist objections [87]! But for now, I shall have strong hopes for the last two Helluva Shorts that will complete another director’s dozen [123] [124]. I guess Vox can hypnotise a hazbean struggling to fall asleep at night, despite how scummy he has been throughout the second season of Hazbin Hotel [47] [86] [87]. And yes, my owl daddy can “hoot hoot” me to sleep tonight [97]. [87]
 
In conclusion, I strongly approve of “Mission: It’s Chaz Funeral” for welcoming back a strangely charming fan favourite in a way not many fellow sinners would expect, thus being one of the best Helluva Shorts [76]. If you think Chaz has somehow redeemed himself under the alias of “Zahc” [11], good for you. Despite several controversies, Medrano’s Hellaverse has helped many people, including yours truly, remain proactive and find a sense of belonging somewhere in the 2020s [102]. Furthermore, let us continue to support people’s rights to enjoy what they consider their escapisms during difficult times [28] [83] [118], despite risks of receiving libel from gatekeepers and bigots that could eventually evolve into deceit [6] [22] [81]. I will keep counting on Charlie Morningstar and hope that Angel Dust will return to his path of redemption on his own terms in the third or fourth season of Hazbin Hotel, and I can see an engaging new path for Stolas, the former prince of the Ars Goetia, in the first and second parts of the third season of Helluva Boss [19] [20] [87] [123] [124]. As always, I thank everyone for their love and support [8], and whether you regret moving abroad or not [24] [113], keep following your passions and expressing your creativity [1] [2] [3] [15] [28] [42] [84], even if you are over the age of forty [96], as the inspirational Arnold Schwarzenegger receiving an honorary degree at Belfast University at the age of seventy-eight is proof that it is NOT too late to achieve [79]. Stay sinful!

I may have missed out on getting an autograph from the talented Elsie Lovelock, the original singing voice for Charlie Morningstar in the Hazbin Hotel pilot [59], at the time, but I hope she also had an awesome time at the convention as well and I believe that she and Jill Harris can reprise their roles as Charlie in a professional fanmade project in the future aside from how Lovelock reprised hers in the song produced by Silva Hound known as “Redemption Arc” [103] [104]. The same applies to many lesser-known voice actresses too [50] [51]. [103]


Aside from how our hopes for the third and fourth seasons of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, let us continue to support rights for transgender people as trans women are women and trans men are men, no matter how toxic X, formerly known as “Twitter”, gets if you still choose to be active on the platform [27] [52] [57] [88]. Please let all the innocent transgender sportspeople who have been affected by the ban on trans athletes competing in women’s sports in the Olympic and Paralympic Games [25] [31] [85], and so on, know that they still have their supporters who love them so much and that they are not alone. I am pretty sure Chaz’s “twin brother” would show some support, despite how sexually deviant he is [61] [76]. Time for transphobes to pay a toll! [39]
